01 about
Dance is a performing art form of purposefully selected sequences of human movement. This movement has aesthetic and symbolic value, and is acknowledged
as dance by performers and observes within a particular culture. Dance can be
categorised and described by its choreography, by its repertoire of movements,
or by its historical period or place of origin.
StreetDance is great exercise: It knows no gender or size; it improves mental abilities;
It is a stress reliever; It is a great form of self-discipline; It provides a creative outlet;
It is excellent for building confidence. For learners who may not feature in more traditional school sports, choosing dance as a sport will help them to shine and build their self-esteem and in this way we are doing our communities and country
a great service.
It is with this in mind that the Street Dance Association was formed. The SDA is a
non-profit company (NPC) with Executive Directors: - Craig Bullock, Nicki Wiggett,
Wayne Jaggard, Dave Wiggett and Mandy Bullock at the helm.
SDA has the endorsement of DanceSport SA, World Dance Sport Federation and SASCOC. SDA launched the DanceSport School League to address the need for
a formal recognised platform in school sport.
